The ENERGY GLOBE is awarded annually in the realm of a huge television gala that is broadcast worldwide to some three billion households. The gala has already taken place in Japan, Canada and (a special honor for the environmental prize) in the Plenary Hall of the European Parliament in Brussels. Prominent guests who presented awards have included Mikhail Gorbachev, Peter Falk (Columbo), Robin Gibb (Bee Gees), Martin Sheen and Nigel Kennedy.

The Turkish Cypriot company AGD Solar developed an economical compact solar water heater featuring a heat-pipe flat-collector with integrated hot water storage tank. This solar heater is perfect for the new "low energy house" or "passive house" concepts but also is designed for the use in "off grid conditions" and literally everywhere. This easy-to-install domestic hot water system delivers hot water after only 15-30 minutes of operation. It produces energy with an very short amortization period.

AGD Solar started this project in the year 1999. After several prototypes were soldered in our home garage, a successful unit was re-designed and adjusted to increase performance. In the year 2002 the system went into mass production in Turkey. At the moment AGD Solar is searching actively for manufacturers worldwide.

As the storage tank is integrated into the system there is no need for additional plumbing.

With this system the need for external heat exchangers, circulation pumps, automatic controller and temperature sensors is a thing of the past. Saving the installer lots of equipment, material cost and valuable time.
